We had a great workday! We dug over school plots, laid sheet mulch and cleared out the greenhouse. We even sifted out some compost. Thanks to everyone who came to help!

First Workday of the 2022 Season!
Join us for our first workday of the 2022 season!
Main activity: Dig school plots, Sheet mulch
Please wear comfortable clothes and close-toed shoes, and bring gloves if you have them. A hat and water bottle are also a good idea on sunny days.
Samuels teachers, parents and students, as well as community members, are all welcome!
The garden is located next to Samuels Elementary School at 3985 S Vincennes Ct, Denver, CO 80237. Please park in the parking lot in front of the school, and you will see the garden to the right of the main school building.
Masks are now optional in the garden, but of course anyone is welcome to wear one if they feel more comfortable doing so.

Seeds!
The best kind of mail - boxes of seeds! Our gardeners will be starting these indoors, to be transplanted into the school plots later on. Most of our seeds came from Botanical Interests this year - a Colorado-based seed company. The rest are from Territorial Seed Company, based in the Pacific Northwest.

Four rows of squash:
Squash gossip, squash indifference, squash grumbling, squash selfishness.
Four rows of lettuce:
Lettuce be faithful, lettuce be kind, lettuce be patient, lettuce really love each other.
No garden should be without turnips:
Turnip for service, turnip for gatherings, turnip to help one another, turnip the music and dance.
And finally, you must have thyme:
Thyme for work, thyme for rest, thyme for each other, and thyme for watching sunsets.
