Compost Every Wednesday Evening, 6-7:30pm

Join us every Wednesday to learn about composting with one of our resident Master Composters. You are welcome to join us once or as often as you like!

You'll get hands on experience working a compost pile. We'll be chopping up the organic matter, adding greens and browns as needed, turning and watering the piles, and sifting out the finished compost. Bring your gloves and wear your garden shoes! Hats and sunscreen are also recommended. Don't forget water.

The garden is located next to Samuels Elementary School at 3985 S Vincennes Ct, Denver, CO 80237. Please park in the parking lot in front of the school, and you will see the garden to the right of the main school building.

Masks are now optional in the garden, but of course anyone is welcome to wear one if they feel more comfortable doing so.

Fun Themes in the School Plots!

 

We're prepping the school plots and the classes have chosen some fun themes this year. Kindergarten is doing a rainbow garden, second grade is planting a pirate ship and third grade has a musical garden.

New Pumpkin Patch - April 2022

We are so excited to have a new pumpkin patch for our ECE/Head Start classes.

Last weekend we cleared the mulch, staked down the plot, carefully cut out the weed barrier, and dug out a bunch of roots!

This weekend we got some excellent topsoil and compost from Nick's Garden Center to fill it up!

Can't wait until it's warm enough to plant pumpkins!

We had a great workday this morning, moving mulch, laying weedcloth and getting soil for our new pumpkin patch.

Earth Day Garden Social - April 22, 2022, 6-8pm

 

Join us for our monthly garden social potluck! You are welcome to bring something to share, a picnic for yourself, or just hang out with us in the garden! Please bring your own plates and silverware to help reduce waste.
