Thanks to everyone that came out to the 2nd Annual Hot Cider Social! It was a chilly day in the garden, but everyone was warmed up with some delicious cider fresh off the camping stove. Cheers to another great season of gardening, we can't wait to see what the garden grows next Spring!

A Fabulous Fall Harvest 🍂

Another garden-to-cafeteria harvest success! 

The 1st graders at Samuel's Elementary School harvested 6 lbs of carrots, squash, zucchini, and tomatoes for upcoming their school lunches! Volunteers also gathered some bright green chard, peppers, and cherry tomatoes for the teachers to take home.

Garden to Cafeteria Harvest Day 🥬

Thank you to Ms. Reese's 3rd grade class for their help with the Garden to Cafeteria program! We harvested 20.5 lbs of carrots, tomatoes, and cucumbers. 

The Garden to Cafeteria program is a unique opportunity for Samuels Elementary students to learn about gardening and to grow fresh vegetables with the aim of supplying some of their harvests to the school cafeteria to be used for lunch.

24 pounds of produce for the Samuels teachers! Kale, swiss chard, collard greens, onions, green beans, peppers and cucumbers.

Harvest Donation to the Teachers

 

Harvest donation to the teachers at Samuels Elementary School. Nearly 50 pounds of cucumbers, tomatoes, squash, tomatillos, beans, peppers, kale, onions, collards and swiss chard. They were so excited!

Do you have your fall crops in yet? We just got our brassicas and root vegetables in, along with a cover crop in the Onion Patch, and one more row of peas!

What: Help us harvest the hops! It is a time consuming activity, but many hands make quick work. Plus, you get to see how hops grow and how they are harvested.

10th Anniversary Party!

 

On July 16th, 2022 we celebrated a decade of Samuels Community Garden. It looked like we might be rained out, but it turned into a beautiful afternoon!

Here's to the next 10 years! 

Mulch Day!

We had a corporate volunteer group come and help out at the garden today! They did a great job spreading mulch and cleaning up common areas. We appreciate their help!
